Wine&Wears Anna Danes
The Notables of San Diego Symphony is presenting Wine&Wears on Apr. 6 at the Westgate Hotel. Sponsors of the evening include San Diego Foundation, Margaret’s Cleaners, Westgate Hotel, Wilson Creek Winery, Old Harbor Distillery and BNY Mellon Wealth Management. The event is being chaired by Joyce Glazer, Linda Karima and Lori Walton. In addition to luxury items offered at the silent auction, musical entertainment will be provided by Anna Danes and Peter Marin. Boys & Girls Club of East County
The Boys & Girls Clubs of East County has raised $5.6 million towards its “La Mesa Capital Campaign” that includes construction of a new clubhouse on the campus of La Mesa Arts Academy. Recent donations have been received from ASI Hastings Heating owners, the Justo family; San Diego Las Hermanas; the Tipton family; owners of Inland Pacific Commercial Properties’ owners James and Christine Renner; and the La Mesa Women’s Club. BGCEC also received an in-kind donation in grading services valued at $200,000.
Serving Seniors is hosting the fourth annual “Experience of a Lifetime: Uncork Your Support” on Apr. 7 at the Kona Kai Resort. The goal is to raise $250,000 to provide 100,000 meals through the agency’s nutrition program, which nourishes thousands of low-income and homeless seniors in San Diego County. Sempra and SDG&E are the Presenting Sponsors.
Voices for Children’s 24th annual Fostering Hope Golf Classic will be held on Apr. 10 and 11 at the Fairmont Grand del Mar. The Cocktail & Auction Party will be held the evening of the 10th followed by golf on the 11th.
The Art4Alz Auction was held on Mar. 11 at the Del Mar Country Club. The event celebrated the new organization, Alzheimer’s San Diego. The $100,000 raised will stay in San Diego to support local families. Darlene Shiley, Founding Chair and the Dr. Seuss Foundation were the major sponsors.
The Sa Diego Fire Rescue Foundation was approved for a Neighborhood Reinvestment Program grant by Supervisor Dave Roberts and the County of San Diego Board of Suervisors. The $29,000 will help provide first responders with Personal Escape Systems to provide firefighters the ability to exit through an upper floor window should they become trapped during interior fire operations.
Carlsbad Awards Dinner
The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce celebrated the best and brightest in local business at the Annual Business Awards Dinner held on Mar. 18 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort. The awards ceremony honored businesses for their innovation, celebrated their vision, and contributions to the quality of life in the community and the workplace. Those recognized included Solutions for Change for Technology & Innovation; Sue Loftin and Rick Davis for Business Persons of the Year; and AKT LLP for Community Impact Award.

The San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy held a 30th Anniversary Wax & Wine event in partnership with the Knorr Candle Factory on Mar. 20. The Conservancy raised $5,500 and received a donation from the Knorr Candle Factory.
The Burn Institute 2016 Firefighter Boot Drive raised $200,000 to support fire and burn prevention education programs and burn survivor support services. Included is the Camp Beyond the Scars, a summer camp for burn injured children.
