Nine Girls Ask?

Nine Girls Ask? was held on Sept. 24 at the US Grant Hotel. The event raised $220,000 for ovarian cancer. NGA presented UCSD Moores Cancer Center a check in the amount of $480,000 to be used for a Clinical Trial, Phase 1 & 2 by the name of the “Rockif Trial”. It is designed to “Re-sensitize Platinum Resistant Ovarian Cancer”. This is not a blind trial and will allow every woman that participates will receive the drug.

ROMP 2016 HOUSE PARTY is being held on Oct. 29 at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar.A musical performance by The Mighty Untouchables are the featured entertainers. Sponsors include Hoehn Carlsbad, Sycuan, Wells Fargo, Signature Flight Support, Rady Children’s Hospital and AMN Healthcare.

Walden Family Services is celebrating 40 years of Fostering on Oct. 28 at Estancial La Jolla. Grammy Award-Winning Rock Legend John Fogerty is the featured entertainer presented by Harley & Maryanne Sefton. Other sponsors include Marty and David Pendarvis, A J W Facilities and Construction, Barney&Barney, Dowling & Yahnke and Union Bank.

“Swinging on a Star of Success” sponsored by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce was held on Oct. 7 at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. The event featured a panel of three small business owners who shared their “Lessons Learned” on what it takes to run and build a successful company. NRG Energy was the presenting sponsor and others included Grand Pacific Resorts, Scripps Health, SDG&E, Tri-City Medical Center and Wells Fargo.

Volunteers of America

Volunteers of America Southwest held its 17th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic on Sept. 12 at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. The net amount raised was $78.000 to benefit education and development for young children, as well as programs serving veterans and their families.

HomeAid San Diego held its 14th Annual “Homes Fore the Homeless” Golf Tournament on Aug. 26 at Maderas Golf Club. The event raised $14,000 which will go into HomeAid San Diego’s Housing Development Program to provide housing for San Diego’s at-risk homeless. The Master Sponsor was Pacific Western Bank. Other sponsors included C2 Imaging and Noah Homes.

American Cancer Society’s 2016 San Diego Soiree is being held on Nov. 3 at the US Grant Hotel. Peter Seidler will be honored at the event and 100% of the funds raised during the cancer challenge paddle raise will be restricted to research. Sponsors include Sycuan, Celgene, San Diego Chargers, Manchester Financial Group, George & Meryl Young, BH Gold and Murphy Sportsmedicine Center.

Champions for Health

Champions for Health held the 3rd Annual Solana Beach Sunset walk/run on Oct. raising $70,000 to benefit the diabetes prevention program, Jump Start for Health. The event was held in partnership with City of Solana Beach, Skinny Gene Project, and San Diego County Medical Society. Sponsors included The Doctors Insurance Agency, California Coast Credit Union and Colonial Life.

The Orange & Black Ball, a Timken Halloween Fantasy, is being held on Oct. 29 beginning with cocktails at the Timken followed by dinner at the Prado Grand Ballroom. Sponsors include Torrey Pines Bank, Janice Dodge Events, Knights Angels and MSI Productions.

The 19th Annual Comedy Night Gala was held on Oct. 14 at the Dana on Mission Bay. The event raised $180,000 for the men, women and children the Challenge Center serves including low-income residents. The Challenge Center awards scholarships to help these clients. EDCO founder, Ed Burr was the major sponsor. Others included Boney Family and Windmill Farms. Sponsors included HealthNow Administrative Services and Blue Shield of California, Autocar, Republic Services, McNeilus and Sycuan Casino.
