This Tasting Event Highlights Local Food and Winemakers

Wine Not? takes over South Park’s The Rose this Saturday

Published:

Get hopped up on local grapes with wine’s resident rebels Wine Not?, the LA-based duo comprised of Bon Appétit wine editor Marissa A. Ross and event producer Evan Enderle. This Saturday, February 25, they are taking over South Park’s The Rose Wine Bar & Bottle Shop in support of Slow Food Urban San Diego and J. Brix Wines.

Transforming The Rose’s intimate space into an oenophile’s paradise, with décor from the Hostess Haven, guests will sip, snack, and savor some of the best that San Diego’s slow food movement has to offer. This hybrid tasting event and gastronomy lesson will also feature a dedicated entertainment component that includes live music, stunning visuals, plenty of antics, and (promises Ross), wine-centric shenanigans.

Highlighting local producers J. Brix Wines, Wine Not? also calls on the talents of hometown favorites MIHO Catering Co. and Slow Food Urban San Diego, who will be serving up locally-caught seafood courtesy of the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, helping to promote Wine Not?’s mission of supporting small-production winemakers and sustainable purveyors in a stress-free, high-excitement framework.

“So much of the joy of wine comes from the experiences you have while drinking it,” says Ross, regarding Saturday’s event. “You can talk tasting notes all night, but think about the wines you love the most. It's not because of their point rating, it's because you had a great time while drinking it.”

The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 25. Tickets are $25 and include admission, wine tasting, and small bites. The Rose is located at 2219 S. 30th Street in South Park.
