What You Need to Know About the San Diego Fires

When to evacuate, where to volunteer, and how to get the latest updates

Published:

Very low humidity and strong Santa Ana winds have caused dangerous conditions ideal for rapidly spreading wildfires in San Diego this week, and the county remains under red flag fire warning until Sunday.

Getting to Safety

Fox 5 San Diego has several maps released by Cal Fire, North County Fire, and UCSD to show current evacuation zones. If you are in an evacuation area, please get out as quickly and safely as possible. You can find a shelter here.

If you need help evacuating your pets, call the San Diego Humane Society’s dispatch at 619-243-3466 and follow @sdhumane on Twitter for the latest updates.

Not able to drive? Rideshare service Lyft is offering free rides (up to $50) to shelters for evacuees with code KEEPSDSAFE.

How to Help

NBC 7 San Diego has a list of organizations and places in need of volunteers and/or donations.

The Del Mar Fairgrounds is housing over 800 horses and other large animals and are in need of volunteers, feed, blankets, and more. Call 858-755-1161 to help.
