Vintage: A custom rhyme + cover from Dr. Seuss

I spent a little time in the archives this morning, in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. The onetime La Jolla resident was a great friend of San Diego Magazine over the years and, in 1972, he even wrote a custom rhyme and comic strip-style image for the cover of the February issue. The topic of the day? Building and development. Some things never change. Guss-ma-Tuss and Zaxx-ma-Taxx duke it out in the context of billboards. I wonder what he'd draw up today in commentary on the waterfront? Ditzy-Duke-Doug and Wacky-Wild-Wings?
