Dear Mom
You would like Santa Monica. Remember you were trying to explain to Dad what a metrosexual is? Examples abound... We spent a night each at sister hotels. Right next to each other-the bellman wheeled our luggage across the street. Yes, tell Pops we tipped the guy $10. The first hotel was Casa del Mar. It's tastefully modern, yet nostalgic: Roaring Twenties meets Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Leave out that analogy for Dad.
Shutters is the other property. It's like a white beach cottage. Walk-out balcony over the pool. Flat-screen TC. Bed like a fluffy nimbus cloud. More nostalgia than Casa del Mar, but a more-modern spa, called One. If you stay here, get Dad to try a facial. Tell him the Tidal Wave is a "moisture surge" complexion treatment. That ought to convince him.
