THEhotel at Mandalay Bay
3950 Las Vegas, Boulevard South 702-632-7800
Suites: 1,117
Dear Mom and Dad:
Vegas is packed to the gills. Forget delays on gridlocked streets——just the cab lines take 20 minutes. I now bring reading material to cab lines. And beer.
I’m staying at the Hotel, oops, I mean THEhotel. It’s the newer tower at Mandalay Bay (“take me to THEhotel” doesn’t fool cabbies). Every room’s a suite. I have 42-inch plasma TVs in my bedroom and living room. Dad: There’s even a mini-flat-screen in the bathroom——you can shave and not miss your History Channel biographies.
I ate at Mix. It’s on the hotel’s top floor——all white, decorated with prominently hung circular cascading glass bubbles. Great risotto; the caramelized scallops are delish. No burgers, Pop.
THEhotel is post-modern, guys——from offbeat art to the orange gym at the bathhouse spa. And nothing’s traditional about the men’s room up at Mix lounge. Everything’s dark. Light comes in from windows right in front of the urinals. Nice view. Of the Vegas Strip, Dad.
Love,
Your son
