Don’t Miss The Fantastic Fall Foliage & Taos Fall Arts Festival

A fall visit to Taos is a must, with crisp mountain air, an average temperature of 75 degrees and unsurpassed fall foliage chock-full of vibrant yellows and oranges. From September 15 to October 15, 2009, Taos is alive with spectacular colors.

Driving tours are a great way to take it all in. Travel to Taos via the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, or ride the Cumbres and Toltec historic railroad, or take in the foliage with a scenic hike, horseback or bike ride.

And when you’re done admiring the outdoors, come inside for one-of-a-kind art. The 2009 Taos Fall Arts Festival is celebrating 35 years of exhibiting the fine art of Taos County artists.

The Taos Fall Arts Festival consists of three beautiful art exhibits. The first event is Taos Living Masters Invitational, comprising artists with national and/or international reputations who have lived in Taos County for at least 15 years. The second is Taos Invites Taos, featuring 150 prestigious artists who have lived in Taos County for at least five years and show in a local gallery or studio. The final event is the Taos Open, with 200 artists who have lived in Taos County for at least one year. All artists’ work is for sale.

Each year, a renowned artist is selected to create the original image for the official Fall Arts Poster. The official 2009 Taos Fall Arts Festival Poster Artist is Don Ward. His painting is "Towards Tres Orejas," a fabulous 24"x 30" oil.

Opening night for the show is September 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. The festival runs through October 12. The show takes place in the Taos Civic Center, 120 Civic Plaza Drive, and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit taosfallarts.com or call 575-758-2106.
