Old Town Trolley Tours
Boards every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (winter); 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (summer), with 21 trolleys making one continuous loop covering 32 miles of San Diego and Coronado through downtown. Reservations are not required. The ticket ($30 adults, $15 children ages 6-12) is most valuable if purchased early in the day, so that you can get on and off at any of nine locations at your leisure. Downtown, Coronado, San Diego Zoo, and Balboa Park stops include the Cruise Ship Terminal, Seaport Village, the Marriott-Convention Center and Horton Plaza. (619-298-8687)
Harbor Excursion
Harbor Excursion has been cruising the bay for more than 90 years. San Diego's sunny climate makes motoring around the harbor a year-round treat; morning and afternoon cruises depart daily. All boats have both a captain and a narrator. The narrator stands on deck with the guests, inviting questions. Dinner dance cruises with live entertainment also are available. Cinderella Horse Carriage Co.
Cinderella Carriages provides elegant and unique horse drawn carriage tours of Sea Port Village, the Embarcadero, San Diego harbor and the historic Gas Lamp District downtown. Rides start in front of the Harbor House Restaurant in Sea Port Village daily and by Croce's on Fifth and "F" in the Gas Lamp on Friday and Saturday evenings. With reservations they can arrange to have a carriage awaiting you at most downtown hotels and restaurant locations. Carriages are available for 4, 6 or 9 passengers. The Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation
Offers one two hour walking tour of the Gaslamp Quarter. A guided tour leaves from the William Heath Davis House (410 Island Ave.) at 11 a.m. Saturdays. Each walk lasts about 2 hours and costs $10 per person, $8 for seniors and students. (233-4692)
