In Celebration

AT SAN DIEGO MAGAZINE, we enjoy celebrating our city. And this month, we’re particularly excited about celebrating the women of San Diego with our inaugural Women Who Move the City event, July 12 at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park.

As the publisher of San Diego Magazine, I have the privilege of selecting the recipient of our Woman of the Year award. With all of the talent and heart in this city, it will be a tough decision. In the Women Who Move the City section of this issue, we list the criteria for the selection, and offer insightful features about impressive women of San Diego’s past and present.

For nearly six decades, San Diego Magazine has valued integrity and quality above all else. Our journalistic standards and paid circulation deliver a valued product to our readers and advertisers. Maintaining a clear division between editorial and advertising ensures that our coverage is unbiased and comprehensive. Our readers are informed and influential San Diegans who read San Diego Magazine from cover to cover. That’s why they buy it. And they never hesitate to tell me about a particular column or article they loved.

I smile when I think about our outstanding editorial team, with its combined total of more than 80 years of experience in newspapers, radio, television, on-line and, of course, magazines. The recent redesigns of San Diego Magazine, Travels and San Diego at Home have elicited a very positive response from readers and advertisers. It wouldn’t be possible without our talented creative staff. The efforts of the rest of our team are most often behind the scenes, but their impact on our product can be seen every day.

The thought and attention involved in selecting our Woman of the Year will be as thorough and intense as our efforts to provide our readers and clients with the best and most-read magazine in the San Diego region. It takes great people to make a great city. And it takes a great team to make a great magazine. I’m honored to be a part of the San Diego Magazine team of professionals. San Diegans—readers, clients and our team—here’s to you!
