The San Diego Museum of Art presents a major retrospective of one of the region’s important modernists, “Everett Gee Jackson/San Diego Modern, 1920–1955,” November 3–January 27. A Whirled View

Turkish followers of the Sufi mystic Rumi perform their ceremonies of spirituality in “The Ecstacy of the Whirling Dervishes,” coming to the Price Center Ballroom November 16 at 8 p.m. as part of UCSD’s ArtPower! lineup. The Next Wave of Waters

Time Travel

Take a stagecoach ride back in time November 4 at the Gaslamp Quarter’s sixth annual Fall Back Festival, an educational street fair that teaches kids about life in old San Diego. Held at the historic William Heath Davis House (Fourth Avenue and Island Street), the festival invites cowpokes to pan for gold, visit a blacksmith, take a hayride and more. Wilde Times in Coronado

Let’s Hear It for the Girls

Billed as “the ultimate day out for women,” the Head to Toe Women’s Expo aims to pamper and primp local ladies at the Del Mar Fairgrounds November 16-18. The expo show cases more than 250 vendors, split into seven “themed villages,” including Body and Soul City, Fashion Metropolis, Home & Hearth Quarters and Culinary Capital. Presentations and guest speakers include actor Aiden Turner of All My Children, chef Marcela of Discovery Network and Jack FM radio personality and comedian Monique Marvez.
