Alvarado Hospital offers advanced, specialized healthcare services and is supported by more than 500 dedicated physicians, representing more than 45 medical and surgical specialties, 1,050 employees and 400 active volunteers. Specialized services include cardiology, emergency medicine, general surgery, neuroscience, orthopedics, oncology, rehabilitation, skull base surgery, sleep disorders, surgical weight reduction and vascular care. Alvarado Hospital is an acute care facility with 306 beds and is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation’s oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency.

Serving San Diego since opening in 1972, Alvarado Hospital provides healthcare to a growing population of more than 1.2 million people in both San Diego and Imperial counties. Alvarado Hospital is conveniently located just off Interstate 8, adjacent to San Diego State University. On January 1, 2007, Alvarado Hospital was acquired by Plymouth Health, a physician- owned corporation.
