Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women has a commitment to service, using the latest technology and medical treatments as well as hotel-like rooms with room-service meals. Sharp Mary Birch delivered more babies in 2005 than any other hospital in California, offering specialty womens services such as genetic counseling, ultrasonography including 3-D, biophysical profiles, fetal well-being assessments and therapy to diagnose and manage patients with highrisk pregnancies. Sharp Mary Birch also has an 18- bed Perinatal Special Care Unitone of only a few in the nation and the only one in San Diegofor premature babies or complicated pregnancies.Sharp Memorial Hospital Cancer Institute is now treating prostate cancer patients with the new da Vinci Surgical System to provide a less invasive, more accurate surgery. The new system, the first in San Diego, is a $1.3 million technology and is part of a $5 million investment toward the improvement, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
