Now Playing: Jane Lui |
Tweet |
Jane Lui’s third album, Goodnight Company, is a harmonious blend of acoustic and electronic sounds. Its making, however, required a bit of a miracle, since Lui was juggling living in NorCal and recording in La Mesa — and fans were donating the funds to cover production costs, via PledgeMusic.com. Now a resident of Solana Beach, Lui says it’s good to be back in San Diego. Always stretching, she’s making time between shows to hone her jazz chops with lessons from her keyboardist, Bobby Cressey. “I like playing my songs differently, and I want the tools to be able to do that,” she says. “It’s me wanting to get better at my craft.” Catch Lui and her band at the Belly Up on May 25.
