The Insider

ALL ABOARD: This month, Rosie O’Donnell and partner Kelli are scheduled to set sail on a San Diego–to–Mexico cruise, the sixth and latest offering from their R Family Vacations gay family cruise, with stops in Cabo, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. Also on board as ship performers: Cyndi Lauper, singer Sam Harris, Celebrity Fit Club host Ant and Miss Ro herself.

OSCAR WINNER-SLASH-BALLER: No stuffy statuette’s gonna stop Jamie Foxx from partying like a rock star. After a recent dinner at Stingaree, Foxx headed upstairs, where he jumped on the mic for a spur-of-the-moment performance that wound up lasting an hour. Club sources tell us Foxx ordered bottle service and requested premixed batches of Belvedere Sex on the Beach, so he could pull straight from the bottle.

GRAY MATTERS: With her notorious ’do hidden under a knit hat, singer Macy Gray showed up at the W Hotel for dinner at Rice and to deejay at the hotel’s temporary champagne lounge——all in an attempt to promote . . . something (nobody was really sure what). “She looks . . . healthier,” commented one guest on Gray, who in earlier years was dogged by rumors of a drug habit. Her skills on the decks earned a fan in at least one well-coiffed, overly enthusiastic attendee, who staged a one-man dance party among the rhythmically challenged crowd. Apparently, a couple of interchangeable actors from a couple of interchangeable TV teen dramas were supposed to show too, but didn’t. They were sorely missed. Whoever they were.

HOUSEWIVES ARE SO HOT RIGHT NOW: Moving from the small screen to the seminar circuit, actress Linda Dano was a recent guest speaker at an event at the Doubletree Mission Valley. While younger generations might recognize Dano as the mother of Bree’s psycho pharmacist-boyfriend George on Desperate Housewives, she’s better known to day time boob-tubers as a regular on Another World, Guiding Light, As the World Turns, General Hospital, All My Children, One Life to Live, Port Charles, Children from Another World Born at Port Charles General Hospital and, well, you get the idea.

LOCAL CELEBS: Where does sports caster Dick Enberg take his wife for a night on the town? To Eden, the Ivy Hotel’s hip rooftop bar . . . Local rockers Louis XIV performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien just ahead of the release of their latest record, Slick Dogs and Ponies. The glam-inspired quartet performed their single “Air Traffic Control.” . . . Chula Vista High grad Mario Lopez showed his Dancing with the Stars partner and girlfriend Karina Smirnoff a good time in his hometown, hitting SeaWorld to tango with Ferdinand the beluga whale.

COUGARS ON THE PROWL: The ladies of The Real Housewives of Orange County ventured out of the safety of their gated communities for a night out in San Diego. As viewers of the show might remember (oh, come on, we know you TiVo it), the women checked into the U.S. Grant before heading to Stingaree to help former Playboy Playmate Jeana temporarily forget about her recent separation from her husband. While Jeana found male distractions aplenty on the dance floor, buddy Vicki engaged in a lip-lock with castmate Tamra. Y’know, Tamra: the hot blonde one with fake boobs. Yeah, that one. The housewives were also spotted recently at Spa Velia.
