Ciao, Bella!

How do you say “sexy” in Italian? Try Just Cavalli. The designer boutique recently opened in Fashion Valley to rave reviews.

Ciao, Bella!

WHEN ONE THINKS of Roberto Cavalli, the trendsetting, envelope-pushing, Italian fashion designer, one probably thinks of images of curve-hugging, figure- shaping silhouettes in an animal print that just might growl at you. And while traces of that aesthetic are detectable in his Just Cavalli line, housed in the newly opened, freestanding boutique in Fashion Valley, there’s also a high level of wearability.

“It’s definitely for a confident, fashion-forward woman,” says Just Cavalli brand manager Giorgiana Magnolfi. “She doesn’t have to be young, but she definitely wants to feel young——and show off her body.” Indeed, the designs do have a very cocktails-and-stilettos appeal and beg to be worn by a well-toned body that seeks its moment in the spotlight.

“It is a very sexy line, but that’s why San Diego is so important to us,” says Magnolfi. “These are women who get it. The Mexican and South American contingent that’s here is very body-conscious and embraces that sexiness.” Even the not-so-brazen should check out this modern space, though, because paired with the right toned-down pieces, you can sport the gold-studded denim, blinged-out bag or safari-inspired dress for, say, a Saturday-afternoon stroll.

We got a sneak preview of this season’s designs and loved the cleaned-up floral prints, the wear-’em-with- anything gladiator sandals and the figure-carving tailored jackets. This store is also a great place to pick up jewelry (snake charms or horn amulets, anyone?), an exotic, heady fragrance or even a brightly printed head scarf. No matter how you decide to incorporate these color splashes into your wardrobe, this should be the first stop while you shop.

On Our Radar

JUST CAVALLI is not the only new kid on the very stylish block at Fashion Valley. Check out these recently opened stores——and brace yourself for next month’s credit-card bill.

Tory Burch

Whether you’re there to pick up the ubiquitous Reva Ballet Flat (which you must get, if you don’t already have) or to scope out the tunics in every shade of turquoise, green or coral you can imagine, this David Hicks–ish space is packed with mod-looking dresses, beachy separates and bright, boldly patterned pieces.

M Missoni

Zigzags, floral prints and 1970s-style silhouettes fill the racks of this store, which exudes Mediterranean glamour. The perfect way to up - date your standard summer frock, these dresses and tops take a throwback pattern and make it utterly of-the-moment.

Michael Kors

Clean, streamlined fashions get a chic, modern treatment when Kors gets his hands on them. Otherwise-boring neutrals are dipped in wildly wearable metallic shades for a look that’s equal parts sexy and sophisticated. Whether you pick up a sporty tennis outfit or elegant beachwear, this is the place to find it all.
