Fair Enough
Ready to spend another summer at the San Diego County Fair trying to figure out who’s still in your favorite bands? Boston, the classic rockers who still boast arguably the best debut rock album in history, performs on the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ Grandstand Stage (July 3), but without original lead singer Brad Delp, who died last year at 55. Delp is replaced by Stryper frontman Michael Sweet and Tommy DeCarlo, a fan who posted his Boston covers on his MySpace page and ended up in the band. Soul legends Earth, Wind & Fire play June 20 without original lead singer Maurice White, but coleader Phillip Bailey remains in the fold. Grand Funk Rail road appears without original lead singer Mark Farner, while the Guess Who rocks without Burton Cummings, one of the best voices in rock history (both bands play June 17). The fair also offers a reggae festival (June 14), La Arrolladora Banda El Limón with Los Rieleros del Norte (June 15), actor/comedian Sinbad (June 18), Doodlebops (June 21), B.B. King (June 26), Fergie (June 27), a gospel festival (June 28), “Weird Al” Yankovic (June 30), Sugarland (July 1), Little Big Town (July 2) and KC & the Sunshine Band (July 4).
