Morning Anchor Channel 9 (KUSI-TV)Friday
Instead of Happy Hour, I invite a small group of friends to my home for yoga. I put on relaxing music; light candles and incense. It’s a better buzz than any cocktail. Afterward, it’s off to Sushi on the Rock in La Jolla. Cap the evening at George’s at the Cove with a glass of wine at the bar.
Saturday
Start with a stroll through Balboa Park. I’ll stop at the Japanese Garden. In front is a tiny tea-garden restaurant. You can pick from dozens of tea leaves in jars and have a tea made especially for you. Then I’ll take in one of the many museums—Aerospace is my favorite. Dinner is outside at The Prado.
Sunday
I love brunch at the Hotel del Coronado. Then I’ll walk it off on the beach or through the neighborhood next to the hotel, checking out some historic homes by famous architects. From there ... shopping. I enjoy Ocean Beach’s quirky Newport Avenue—great antiques and fun clothing stores. I’ll end the weekend at downtown’s Faz restaurant. Interesting interior—Faz used to be an old bank. The food is wonderful.

My fiancée, Brittany, and I invite a group of our close friends over to grill food, swim in the pool and relax in the hot tub. While the ladies make mixed drinks, the guys venture over to the nearby golf course to chip and putt for a few hours with flashlights. Later that night, we head down to the Gaslamp Quarter and go dancing at Aubergine.
Saturday
I’ll start the day playing a few rounds of golf at Maderas golf course, while Brittany goes on a hike or a bike ride with friends. In the afternoon, we’ll jump in the pool, then relax on the hammock in the backyard. We’ll dine at P.F. Chang’s, to get our favorite lettuce wraps, or Peohe’s in Coronado, to get the best lobster bisque and biggest appetizer platter around. Then we catch a movie at either the Mission Valley or Fashion Valley mall, either an action/ horror (my choice) or a love story for Brittany.
Sunday
We go to church in the early morning. Next, we stuff our faces at Denny’s. I’ll get my usual country-fried steak; Brittany will have either waffles or the Grand Slam. After breakfast, we’ll try to catch a musical or play at the Civic Theatre downtown. If not, we’ll go for a bike ride in Solana Beach followed by a drive to our favorite spot in Del Mar to watch the sunset.

My wife, Ann, and I check into the Presidential Suite at the U.S. Grant Hotel. After relaxing a bit, we’ll dine at one of our longtime favorite restaurants, Dobson’s, starting with an unequaled lobster bisque and saving room for their delicious hot bread. We’ll try to walk off some of the meal with a stroll along the bay.
Saturday
Getting up early, I head to North County for golf at Santaluz, one of the most stunning courses in the region. In the afternoon, Ann and I rest up, in preparation for San Diego Opera’s season-opening performance of Fidelio at the Civic Theatre (January 25). Afterward, we’ll attend the cast party, mingling with artists and supporters.
Sunday
In the morning, a leisurely brunch at the Westgate Hotel, where the food is always abundant. Then, some shopping at Horton Plaza before heading home to be with our two sons.
