Publisher's Note
The team at San Diego Magazine loves the opportunity to serve our community in many ways. This includes promoting awareness of San Diego’s thriving philanthropic movement and nonprofit work through our annual Charitable Events Registry™, as well our monthly Art of Giving e-newsletter.
This year, we will work to encourage awareness for the environment through sustainable development, green services and much more. We have printed the 2008 Charitable Events Registry™ on recycled paper with an environmentally friendly production process.
Additionally in 2008, the Charitable Events Registry™ is adding a Social Consciousness category to The Art of Giving Awards to honor companies that promote green living. In doing so, we not only hope to encourage environmental awareness but also applaud large-scale efforts where smart-growth planning and sustainable development are having an impact on the way we live.
This year, the San Diego community was devastated by the 2007 wildfires. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims who lost their homes, and we hope we can help by giving back. As our way of contributing to the rebuilding efforts of the lost neighborhoods, San Diego Magazine will donate 5 percent of all local advertising sales through the January issue to the fire victims through the Salvation Army.
Please join our efforts in the coming year by supporting local charities, nonprofits, sustainable developers, green retailers and other socially conscious organizations. Together, we can work to set a benchmark for other cities to follow.
Kind regards,
