There’s nothing sweeter than knowing your hard work is going to a good cause. For the cake makers at Bake Me a Wish in New York City, work is especially sweet since a portion of the proceeds of every cake they bake benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation and its efforts to grant wishes to terminally ill children and their families.

Through its Project Wish Cake campaign, 5 percent of all online cake sales benefit Make-A-Wish, while 30 percent of sales of the specialty Make-A-Wish chocolate mousse torte cake are donated to the organization in the name of the cake recipient. The gourmet bakery, which delivers nationwide, has also donated 5,000 gourmet cakes to the foundation to use at its discretion. A separate 5 percent of orders benefits the company’s Operation: Birthday Cake, a program that donates birthday cakes each month to soldiers overseas.
