Project Concern International will be hosting this year’s 17th Annual Hands Across Borders at the Del Mar Racetrack on Saturday, November 7th. PCI is proud to celebrate the Women of Africa as change-makers. The 2009 Humanitarian Award will be given to Nobel Laureate Nominee, Wahu Kaara. Ms. Kaara is a global social justice activist and a founding coordinator of the Kenya Debt Relief Network, and was nominate for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 for her work on behalf of women’s rights. We are also proud to welcome Oliver Mktukudze, or “Tuku” to his fans around the world, who has agreed to join us on November 7th to accept the Cultural Ambassador Award and add his music to the voices of African women as agents of social transformation. |
