Pages 14-19: Malibu tile is one of the design elements consistently used throughout this Spanish Revival home, remodeled by Richard Gatling, ASID. In the living room (above), he replaced a stone fireplace with one lined in striking red Malibu tile—“like those you would find in Pasa dena,” Gatling says. He modified the original design of the tile, handpicked the appropriate colors, then, like they were puzzle pieces, ar ranged them to line up perfectly. Monterrey furniture and reproduction light fixtures complete the look.
