San Diegans At Home
Alpine residents Jennifer and Matt Mauzy get lots of compliments on their 27-seat home theater, part of a new 800-square-foot family recreation room—especially when friends and family come to watch events like this month’s Super Bowl. Matt, owner of Mauzy Heating & Air Conditioning, is the ultimate sports nut. Many of his clients are pro athletes like Xavier Nady, formerly of the Padres and now with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“I first worked on the home of someone on the Padres training staff, who recommended my shop to Xavier,” Matt says. “From there, the referrals kept coming in—most from sports figures.”
As his children grew older and began to play team sports, Matt found he spent more time chauffeuring them to practice than catching Padres or Chargers games. “Now, with the new home theater, we have everybody dropping in, including our own kids and quite a few clients,” he says.
