San Diego–based Treecentric is going green with Web hosting. Privately owned Treecentric offers environmentally friendly Web-hosting, e-mail and domain services by being backed up by clean energy, says founder and CEO Cameron Larson. Launched in March 2007, Treecentric (treecentric.com) purchases renewable-energy certificates from authorized facilities—windmill farms and solar-energy plants.
“I’ve been in the hosting business for the past 10 years, so I knew the field, and I saw there was a need in the market for something green,” says Larson. “I’ve had a very positive response.”
Treecentric is also helping businesses make a difference on a global scale through everyday activities, says Larson. A green e-certified company, Treecentric ensures all renewable energy purchased meets the United States’ primary independent certification and verification standards.
