The San Diego Historical Society presented the 2008 History Makers Gala at the Promenade at Liberty Station to celebrate the transformation of the former Naval Training Center. Helen Kinnaird and Ann Hill chaired; Mary Clark was honorary chair. Mayor Jerry Sanders and Rana Sampson joined guests in recognizing key figures in the redevelopment: Wayne Donaldson, Jack Ensch, Susan Golding, Wayne Raffesberger and Mike Stepner.
