Caboose Shakin’
Mass transit meets modern dance with San Diego Dance Theater’s Trolley Dances, performed September 29 and 30 and October 6 and 7 at select trolley stops. Board the East Village orange line for a guided tour (hourly, beginning at 10 a.m.) through trolley stations doubling as dance stages, and disembark at the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art at the Santa Fe Depot stop. AIDS Walk San Diego, the largest one-day HIV/AIDS fund-raiser in the county, hits the pavement September 30 in Balboa Park (Sixth Avenue and Quince Street). Presented by Nordstrom, the family-friendly walk raises funds for more than 30 local HIV/AIDS organizations that serve upwards of 16,000 people. Glimpse the lux life on the high seas when the eighth annual YachtFest San Diego drops anchor at the Shelter Island Marina September 13-16. Celluloid Times Six
The film industry shines its spotlight south for the sixth annual San Diego Film Festival, September 27-30 at various Gaslamp Quarter venues. The San Diego Film Foundation’s competitive festival showcases 100-plus American and international features, documentaries, short films and music videos.
