Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head Crater
Hawaii’s sparkling sand and crystal blue waters draw visitors from all over the world, and it’s not hard to see why. On your next Hawaiian vacay, wow your friends and followers with beach pics that will blow their minds. Here are our five favorite picture-perfect spots.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a non-Instagrammable sport on Honolulu’s sandy shores, but Waikiki stands out for its calm waters, and stunning view of the volcanic Diamond Head crater (and probably its proximity to your hotel room, too).
Film buffs will love this tranquil locale on the island of Kauai. The beach flanked by lush flora and mountain peaks was the setting for the 1959 musical South Pacific.
The jet black volcanic sand on this Big Island beach is a showstopper. It’s also a popular hangout for endangered sea turtles. Rumor has it that anyone who takes a black stone from the beach will be cursed by Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanos and fire, but the legend may have been created to deter visitors from taking them as souvenirs.
Consistently ranked one of the best beaches in the world, picturesque Lanikai on the island of Oahu boasts turquoise waters and a clear view of the two Na Mokulua islands. Wake up early and grab a shot of the sunrise between the two.
Windsurfers from all over the world flock to this Maui beach, making Ho’okipa a great pick for action shots. There’s even a designated spot to watch windsurfers tackle the big surf called Ho’okipa Lookout.
