October 23:

The Pearl Hotel hosts its ninth annual Pumpkin Carving Contest, providing all supplies and a seasonal cocktail for each participant while a spooky movie plays on the big poolside screen. The winner gets a free night’s stay at the Point Loma property; second place earns you happy hour for four. 

Josh Carlos of Campari is this month's guest at George's At the Cove's monthly Craft at the Cove event, where he'll be collaborating with the Level2 bartending team on a special cocktail menu for the evening.

 

October 24:

The Circuit Rider Trio—featuring guitarist Bill Frisell, cornetist Ron Miles and drummer Brian Blade—will combine jazz with folk tradition and gospel during their performance at The Auditorium at the Scripps Research Institute as part of The Athenaeum's fall jazz series.

 

October 26:

Costumed kids can get their sugar rush at Trick-or-Treat on India Street, kicking off in Little Italy’s Piazza della Famiglia. 

 

October 27:

Experience a wicked wonderland at the WCKD Village block party, featuring a costume contest, several music stages, and more entertainment throughout the Gaslamp Quarter and East Village. 

Indulge in hearty comfort food during San Diego Mac N’ Cheese Fest at Waterfront Park. 

The true story of Sarah Winchester intertwines with a contemporary social relevance in Inheritance, an experimental multi-media opera staged at UC San Diego.

 

October 28:

Southern California’s bounty of locally grown ingredients are on display—along with wine and beer—for the Celebrate the Craft food festival at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. 

Pay respect to the spirits of deceased loved ones at Old Town’s Day of the Dead cultural celebration. 

Head to Hillcrest for a Halloween party that’s equal parts scary and sassy at Nightmare on Normal Street
