Prevention can sometimes be the best medicine. That’s the mantra at The Chopra Center, which recently debuted an Ayurvedic breast massage. Pulling inspiration from the 5,000-year-old Indian healing tradition that takes a holistic, full-body approach to health, the treatment aims to flush out toxins through the lymphatic system, reduce pain, and improve energy and range of motion.

About 10 percent of the massage includes touching the actual breasts. The Carlsbad institution is the only wellness center in the country to offer this treatment—performed by female therapists with extensive training—on a large scale. And while it’s encouraged for women healing after breast augmentation or life-changing diseases like breast cancer, all women can reap the benefits of maintaining healthy tissue and muscles.
