This year’s Miramar Air Show celebrates 100 years of naval aviation in America’s finest city—and the weekend-long event promises to honor that milestone with a bang. Closing out Fleet Week 2011, “A Salute to San Diego: Birthplace of Naval Aviation 1911-2011” will feature close to seven hours of aviation performances by some of the best pilots around, including National Aviation Hall of Famer Sean D. Tucker and the world-famous Blue Angels. And while you might not be able to soar the skies, the aircraft and full-throttle flight simulators open to the public are the next best thing (totally worth the helmet hair). General admission and parking are free. From September 30 to October 2.
