At North County Gastroenterology Medical Group, six doctors share one mission: to provide the highest quality personal healthcare.

“We all share the same philosophy: Always put patients first, and cater to their concerns and needs,” says gastroenterologist  Dr. Michael Shim. “Making your visit pleasant and productive is our top priority.”

The doctors, who make up the oldest and largest private gastroenterology practice in the San Diego area, treat a wide variety ofdigestive conditions, including abdominal pain, acid reflux, Barrett’s esophagus, swallowing disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and colon polyps. They perform screening colonoscopies, upper endoscopies and also treat liver and pancreatic diseases.

Gastrointestinal problems are often embarrassing to talk about, but the doctors at North County Gastroenterology Medical Group know how to make patients feel at ease so they can fully describe symptoms and get the care they need.

“We make sure to not only perform the necessary procedures but provide overall care to make them feel better,” Shim says.

The top-notch staff can usually schedule office appointments quickly, often on the same day. The group also owns an AAAHC- and state-licensed endoscopy center, creating an environment of unparalleled safety and efficiency to schedule and perform procedures.

“If a procedure is needed, it can be scheduled very quickly,” Shim says.

The doctors include Dr. Thomas C. Krol, Dr. Jeffrey B. Rothman, Dr. Christopher E. Devereaux, Dr. M. Eric Viernes, Dr. Javaid A. Shad andDr. Michael Shim. All are board-certified gastroenterologists and trained at thenation’s most prestigious universities.

“Our dedication to compassionate care and decades of experience set us apart,” Shim says.
