Hidden inside gastropub Oryx Capital is Nortico, a speakeasy-style bar seeking to transform Tijuana’s craft cocktail scene. Snake Oil Cocktail Co., the San Diego–based mixologists behind Oryx Capital’s cocktail menu, worked with Oryx chef Ruffo Ibarra and George’s at the Cove bartender Stephen Kurpinsky to refine Nortico’s menu. It’s a mix of classics and modern takes with a Baja twist, like the Room with a Vieux (blanco tequila, Mandarine Napoléon cognac, lime, agave, and absinthe) and Glamping (mezcal, Mexican brandy, Pedro Ximenez sherry, and Aztec Chocolate bitters, served in a snifter glass filled with hickory smoke).
