An Evening of Excellence

A gala honors President Stephen L. Weber's service to SDSU

Published:

On April 9th, more than 700 guests turned out for a retirement bash honoring President Stephen L. Weber and Mrs. Susan K. Weber. President Weber is retiring after 15 years at San Diego State University.

After a reception, dinner, and performance by SDSU music students at the SDSU Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center, Mayor Jerry Sanders made his remarks and the Webers spoke.

At the close of the evening, there was a surprise gift announcement. Local philanthropist Darlene Shiley pledged $6 million to the college in honor of the departing president.

The event chairs were Kit Sickels, Ron Fowler and Bob Payne.
