The Style Doctor

La Jolla's Laura Gambucci Boutique is providing triage for the fashionable and time-challenged alike.

Published:

There’s a hidden jewel in San Diego you may or may not know about: Her name is Laura Gambucci and she owns a boutique in the heart of downtown La Jolla. Whether you’re looking for retail therapy or need help finding pieces for your wardrobe, Gambucci is your doctor of style.

Customers don’t go to Laura Gambucci just to shop—they go to rediscover their own beauty and unique style. Driving the kids to and from school and doing everything to manage the house and work can take a toll on how you look and present yourself. For many, sweats or flip-flops are part of the daily uniform; Laura’s here to change all that.

“I want to be a lifestyle shop in which I can dress the woman throughout the day—for whatever event she is going to or whether she is running around with the kids,” Laura says about her boutique.

Walking into the Laura Gambucci Boutique is like walking into the closet of your dreams. Clothes are sectioned off according to style and mood. Whether you need something elegant and sophisticated for that charity function or an outfit for a weekend getaway, you can find it here. You also get a sense of Laura’s own style and personality—from the mannequin in the window or the decorative antique doorknobs on the wall to the dressing rooms with framed vintage magazine pictures: they're all part of the Laura Gambucci aura.

But as with a doctor, Laura takes her work seriously. Blending her background in interior design with her love for fashion, she looks for innovative designs in the clothing she buys.

“I look for collections that have beautiful fabrications at whatever price points—that’s a rule for me,” Laura says. “They have to have interesting details and look great on a woman, whatever size or shape they are.”

Beautiful doesn’t explain all the pieces Laura Gambucci carries in her store. Words like luxurious, unique, fun and expressive come to mind. But it’s the individualized attention that sets this boutique apart from others. Laura makes sure the customer is taken care of by her personally or one of her experienced stylists. So whatever the age, there’s something for every fashionista in Laura Gambucci.

Laura Gambucci Boutique is located at 7629 Girard Avenue in La Jolla. 858-551-0214.
