Grab your bib, because one of San Diego’s tastiest traditions returns June 23, when 150 gallons of chili will simmer at the Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off. You can sample one recipe for $2 or go for the $20 master pass to taste all 15 entries and cast your vote toward the People’s Choice Award. There’s also entertainment that’s been a hallmark of the festival since its 1979 inception, including live music, local art, and carnival rides.
In the beer garden, you can see participants in the Hodad’s Burger Eating Contest try to wolf down six burgers in seven minutes. New this year, for every burger eaten by the winner, Hodad’s is donating $100 to the San Diego Food Bank. Gorging never felt so good.
