Atacama Brings Surf to Little Italy

After working for 15 years as a board buyer in Solana Beach, Clark Ledger decided to bring his “North County taste downtown.” Atacama (ah-tah-KAH-mah, named after the Chilean desert) stocks a mix of local brands like Nixon, Captain Fin, and Mizu, alongside powerhouses like RVCA, Vissla, Pendleton, and even Voluspa candles.

But the real draw is Ledger’s selection of specialty boards made by local shapers, including Chris Christenson and Tyler Warren. “I set it up to pay respect to the guys that do it by hand,” he says. Ledger’s passion for the sport and artistic eye make a visit worth your while.

Bonus: The shop is located across the street from Ballast Point Tasting Room & Kitchen. Cheers!
