“Junior was a dear friend to so many… larger than life, with an infectious smile that made us always feel good. He transcended the game. He wasn’t just a football player, he was so much more.”
Dean Spanos,
Chairman of the Board and President,
San Diego Chargers
“Junior Seau loved San Diego and established his foundation to help the community, particularly the kids. We lost him too soon, but with the assistance of a strong board and the generosity of those who support his ideas, his legacy can live on.”
Jay Kawano,
Vice President, Junior Seau Foundation
“Junior was a real-life superhero figure for so many people. A guy who made you believe in more for yourself.”
Miles McPherson,
Pastor and former San Diego Charger
In his own words...
“I was fortunate enough that [the Spanos family] took me in, allowed me to be supported by the fans of the city for 14 years, and I appreciate that. It’s the best place to live, number one. Not only for what it brings demographically, but for the people who live there and love the city… I’m planning to play two more years in the NFL and then come home to San Diego. [If there’s still a team] I’ll probably coach it myself.”
