7 San Diego Running Clubs

Running may be an individual sport, but who says you have to go at it alone? Find the group that's right for you.

 

Black Flag Running Club

Geared toward those training for half and full marathons, Black Flag organizes three training seasons ($80–$135 per season) over nine months with personalized training and twice weekly group runs.

Mikkeller Running Club

Meet outside the craft beer bar’s Miramar location the first Saturday of each month, or their Little Italy outpost the third Saturday of each month. Sip on a discounted beer after your run, which usually clocks in at 3 miles.

North Park Women’s Running Group

This all-female club meets Wednesday evenings to run 2–4 miles, and ends their workouts at The Taco Stand and Modern Times Beer Co. or at Thorn Street Brewing for trivia.

Refill

Run 2–4 miles starting at this Hillcrest café, then stop back in after for a free drink (wine, beer, coffee, or tea).

Run North County

Log anywhere from 2 to 10 miles any day of the week, everywhere from Lake Hodges to Carlsbad to Encinitas.

San Diego Run Club

Foundation For a $99 annual fee, runners—especially those training for marathons—get four coached group runs per week.

San Diego Ultra Running Friends

$60 per year gets you a fraternity of 400 fellow runners who plan weekly meetups ranging from 10 to 30 miles. Not ready for the investment? The club also hosts free “Trails & Ales” runs (4–6 miles) every Wednesday at 6 p.m., beginning and ending at Coronado Brewing Co.
