Urban Solace is getting a revamp for the new year. The North Park staple now serves a daily breakfast by day and turns into Bar Solace, with share plates and drinks, by night.

After success with their ramen, sushi, and Hello Kitty–shaped steam buns in Little Italy, Harumama has opened a second, more intimate location in Carlsbad.

Louisiana Purchase is slated to debut this month in North Park with a Big Easy–inspired menu.

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters has opened their fifth location. The Pacific Beach café has all the popular coffee and espresso drinks, plus an expanded food menu.

DC export ChiKo has landed in Encinitas. The James Beard–nominated eatery pulls from Chinese and Korean cuisines—think crispy chicken spring rolls, pork and kimchi potstickers, and more.

The group behind True Food Kitchen and Flower Child has opened North Italia at Fashion Valley. The menu includes white truffle garlic bread, spicy pepperoni pizzas, and gluten-free options.

Replacing the Tostadas space, La Catrina Tapas & Tequila is open in North Park, with ceviches, tacos, cazuelas, and shrimp sopes with bone marrow.

Kearny Mesa’s Realm of the 52 Remedies is a new Asian-inspired speakeasy turning out cocktails, small plates, and more in a space designed by Michael Soriano (Queenstown Public House).

Following locations in Oceanside and Carlsbad, Barrel Republic has opened in Pacific Beach, with craft beer and indulgent bar eats.

SuperNatural Sandwiches, known for their seafood sammies, has opened a new outpost in Little Italy.
