The luxe boutique hotel tucked in the forest has completed its multimillion-dollar makeover

By Archana Ram

Last winter’s heavy rains may have been a boon for the drought, but the downpour also wreaked havoc across the state, including the collapse of Big Sur’s Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge along Highway 1. After an eight-month closure for repairs, the iconic thoroughfare reopened in October, at the same time Ventana Big Sur debuted its multimillion-dollar makeover. The luxe boutique hotel tucked in the forest has 59 renovated rooms, suites, and villas, many of which come with private outdoor space overlooking the mountains or ocean.

But this is Big Sur, where nature is your playground. Their new glamping program boasts 15 safari-style “glampsites” (with a two-night minimum) dotted across a 20-acre canyon. Perks include daily housekeeping service, turndown service, a fire pit, heated bathroom floors, and more. We’ll camp out for this one.

Rooms from $675; glampsites from $325
