Process: Brooks goes straight to a client’s closet. Working with what’s there, she creates a “no-brainer” dressing journal — a look book for their own clothes. Next, she shops with the client to fill in the holes, usually aiming for two to five new pieces to update a look.
Tips: “Only buy something if you have three pieces that work with it. Don’t spend a lot on trends — shop for those at Forever 21 or H&M. A must-have for winters in San Diego? Faux fur vest and/or cape.”

Process: Starts with a free 15-minute phone consultation. Clients fill out a 15-question form to establish styles they like and changes they’d like to see in their style. Next, the “Closet Therapist” edits and fills in the list of wardrobe essentials from one of two categories — modern mom or professional. Last, a shopping trip educates the client on style and fit for her body type and lifestyle. Optional: a wardrobe album with pictures of several assembled outfits.
Tips: “Shoes can make or break your outfit. Dressing your age is all about your personal style. Find an Ugg alternative.”

Process: Valiente begins with a complimentary 45-minute consultation to determine where the client is and where the client wants to go. Next, they go through a “look book” to find an image of the client’s personal style. Then comes the purge: She removes all the items from the client’s closet that don’t fit the new look. Finally, Valiente shops for new items and teaches the client how best to shop. She even offers a complimentary dressing room setup filled with clothes in the client’s size.
Tips: “No clothing item is essential. Get a trusted tailor. Don’t wear anything un-attractive, a.k.a. loungewear. Be chic, even at the grocery store.”

Process: This Brazilian beauty begins by meeting with clients for a free consult. Hermanny asks that they fill out a 2-3 page questionnaire, and from there the direction varies—a closet edit or maybe a shopping trip. “It all depends on what they need,” she says. Hermanny also specializes in personalized gift shopping, wrapping and delivery.
Tips: “You can create a great look on any budget. Put as much effort into your clothes as you do your make-up and hair.”
