San Diego’s Inauguration Celebrations

Start Obama's next four years off right at one of San Diego's many inauguration parties

SAN DIEGO & ME

Barack Obama’s inauguration will be one of the most eagerly anticipated in history. And though he’s sworn in 2,200 miles away, San Diego has plenty of events and offerings tomorrow for those not able to witness or celebrate in Washington.

What’s Obama’s speech going to include? What’s he going to wear? What kind of reception will Rick Warren receive? Will the Clintons try to steal the show? Share your thoughts, debate all the platitudes and celebrate the new administration at one of the many following parties:

W Hotel San Diego Party with the San Diego Young Democrats from 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., ironically taking place at the “W” hotel downtown. sdcyoungdemocrats.com

BareBack Grill Enjoy specials from 6 to 9 p.m. at the downtown burger joint that celebrates all things New Zealand. barebackgrill.com

Hilton San Diego Bayfront Fans of groan-inducing allusions shouldn’t miss the bash at the new bayfront Hilton’s Odysea, which will serve such drinks as the Yes We Can Gimlet, Michelle Muse, Barack Breeze and the Radiance & Rosebud. hilton.com

East Village Tavern & Bowl Not to be outdone, EVT offers such libations as the $700 Billion Martini, served through January 20. bowlevt.com

On Broadway Comedian Joe Torrey hosts an inaugural party with music, dancing and live performances from 8 p.m. obec.tv

UltraStar Del Mar Highlands 8 Get up close without having to brave the D.C. winter as the theater broadcasts an HD presentation of the ceremony from 8 a.m. to noon. Log on here for tickets.

Sea Rocket Bistro Talk politics over sustainable seafood fare in North Park at Sea Rocket Bistro from 5 to 8 p.m. searocketbistro.com
