Under the direction of Dr. Val Catanzarite, San Diego Perinatal Center provides state of the art, comprehensive, compassionate care through excellence in clinical care, research, teaching, and advocacy. Clinical services provided by the center include consultation, pregnancy care, and prenatal diagnostic studies such as nuchal translucency screening, sonography, fetal echocardiography, CVS, and amniocentesis.

“Many families come to us because they want to make sure that their baby is fine and we are happy to reassure them,” said Dr. Catanzarite. “We do more than 10,000 ultrasound scans a year. With our comprehensive ultrasound protocol we are able to do a very detailed examination so that we know we have a healthy-looking baby. If there is a specific worry that a family has, we have access to genetics consultation, a comprehensive range of tests.”

San Diego Perinatal Center is especially sensitive to the needs of pregnant Moms with health problems or any condition that could lead to pregnancy complications, for Moms over 35, for multiple gestations such as twins, or triplets, or quadruplets, or families who have had complications such as premature birth in other pregnancies, or who are worried about birth defects.

San Diego Perinatal Center also offers a number of specialized programs to help Moms throughout the pregnancies, including preterm birth prevention, diabetes in pregnancy, and multiple gestation, and all of the physicians are especially attuned to issues of exercise and nutrition.
