Description: When it comes to vision, there’s no excuse for second best. That’s why so many patients choose Alvarado Eye Associates for their eye surgery needs. Now, Dr. Glenn Cook, M.D., Ph.D., and Dr. Paul Treger, M.D., F.A.C.S., continue their tradition of excellence by becoming the first eye surgeons in San Diego County to offer a revolutionary bladeless laser treatment for cataracts.

“We’re now equipped with technology that will forever change how surgeons operate on cataracts,” says Dr. Cook. “It’s a complete paradigm shift. We can now reach new levels of precision, safety, and reproducibility with our new laser, all leading to a much better experience for patients.”

The key to the next generation of cataract treatment is the LenSx Laser, whose manufacturer has become the world leader in laser cataract surgery. “In addition to providing greater safety for patients, the bladeless laser treatment will let more patients see clearly for the first time without glasses and without the use of metal scalpels,” Dr. Treger says.

The conveniently located offices of Drs. Cook and Treger in La Mesa and Coronado also offer LASIK and PRK surgery using four types of lasers. The newest laser, the Ziemer FEMTO Crystal Line (small bubble technology), brings LASIK surgery to the next level. Ultra-short pulses of lower energy with a much higher repetition rate result in less inflammation and faster visual recovery than with other femtosecond flap making lasers.

“Unlike eye surgeons who only have one or two lasers, we can determine which combination of lasers would be best for each patient’s eye. This allows us to offer an exceptional level of individualized care,” Dr. Cook says.

Every patient can rest assured that Dr. Cook and Dr. Treger have sterling reputations. Both have been named San Diego’s Top Doctors for multiple years in a row, and both have been team ophthalmologists for the San Diego Chargers.

“It’s truly an amazing and exciting time to be in the business of restoring vision,” Dr. Treger says. “We’re thrilled that new technology is helping us make an even bigger difference in people’s lives.”
