Pisco Rotisserie & Cevicheria has closed in Carlsbad and is relaunching as the breakfast-and-lunch eatery Toast Gastrobrunch.



Following its San Diego debut in Clairemont last summer, Oregon’s Ramen Ryoma has opened a new location in Pacific Beach, with a Hillcrest outpost set to open this summer.



Theatre Box is now open in the Gaslamp, an entertainment complex with an upscale movie theater, all-day restaurant called Sugar Factory, and the dessert-centric Chocolate Lounge.



The “American brasserie and beer bank” WhipHand has launched in the East Village, with small plates and 24 beers on tap.



Health-focused fast-casual concept Freshii has opened in Hillcrest, serving quinoa grain bowls, wraps, smoothies, and more.



Sidecar Doughnuts, the Costa Mesa–based bakery known for their huckleberry flavor, has opened in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center.



Set to open this month in the old To the Point space in Point Loma, farmers’ market vendor Cesarina is launching with handmade pastas helmed by chef Patrick Money (Cucina Enoteca, The Smoking Goat).



Kairoa Brewing Co. is open in University Heights, with a New Zealand–influenced menu of burgers, chicken pies, and beers.



Dine on toasts, grain bowls, and matcha lattes at Little Italy’s new Parakeet Cafe, which also has a location in La Jolla Village.



The team behind Little Italy’s Cloak & Petal and local ramen chain Tajima will take over the former Cafe Chloe space, opening a quick-service Japanese steakhouse this summer where diners choose their steaks by cut and weight.
