Dessert: Helado Domingo from D Bar
We’re going bananas for the Helado Domingo dessert at D Bar, made with caramel flan, rum cream, toasted coconut, and vanilla ice cream—topped with a caramelized plantain. It’s the creation of Keegan Gerhard, whose pastries have earned him acclaim on the Food Network and Discovery Channel. Gerhard opened the San Diego location of D Bar (the original is in Denver) with his wife and fellow pastry chef Lisa Bailey. Valentine’s Day? Done. 3930 Fifth Avenue, Hillcrest
