Shop Talk: Lingerie Lounge

Published:

When Alicia O’Sullivan entered the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, her first assignment was to create a business plan for a lingerie store. The spark ignited, and in 2003 she opened Lingerie Lounge in Mammoth Lakes with her mother. The boutique developed a loyal following — including fans like Ellen DeGeneres, who featured it on her show while visiting the area — and in 2008 O’Sullivan opened a second location in the Gaslamp Quarter. Even in a bad economy, O’Sullivan says, women want to feel sexy, and she’s branched out to offer a lot more than just pricey negligées. Lingerie Lounge is also a very popular place to have a bachelorette party. “Women will bring in champagne and food,” she says, “and shop for sexy honeymoon stuff for the bride and racy stuff for the bridesmaids. We also have a substantial adult toy section.”
