Fab, Again

On Feb. 9, 1964, the Beatles made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan TV show and forever changed the world. On Feb. 7, in a 40th-anniversary salute, the locally based Beatles-tribute band Fab 40 appears in concert at the Spreckels Theater downtown to benefit the San Diego organization WIN Against Breast Cancer. That group, founded by breast cancer survivor Betsy Mullen, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, having compiled an impressive record of supporting and empowering cancer patients and promoting responsible and appropriate healthcare. Adding a poignant note for Beatles fans: Paul McCartney’s first wife, Linda, died at age 56 of breast cancer. (Feb. 7 at 8, Spreckels Theater, 121 Broadway, 626-332-2255, www.fab40.us.)
