Buona Forchetta has opened a new location in Encinitas, plus a bistro-market spinoff in South Park called Enoteca Buona Forchetta.



Dark Horse Coffee Roasters has unveiled Mutual Friend Ice Cream next door to its Golden Hill outpost. The scoop shop is serving roasted banana with peanut butter cup, mint chip, and a selection of vegan options like coconut spiced chai.



Insomnia Cookies—the University of Pennsylvania–born bakery known for delivering warm, just-baked cookies as late as 3 a.m., mostly near college towns—is slated to open this month in Pacific Beach.



Cohn Restaurant Group (Coasterra, BO-beau) is opening Coaster Tavern in Mission Valley this month, a counterpart to their Mission Beach gastropub Coaster Saloon, with a similar menu of burgers, barbecue, and beer.



Surf Rider Pizza Co. is now open in La Mesa, with brick-oven pies and slices as well as stromboli, salads, and desserts made at their on-site bakery.



Kennedy’s Meat Company, formerly Kennedy’s Karne, has opened a new location in Escondido with a butcher shop, restaurant, and prep area for catering.



The vegan founders of Modern Times Beer have debuted The Far West Lounge, a restaurant in Encinitas with a seitan burrito, soy-topped chilaquiles, and other plant-based dishes.



After success in Mission Hills and La Mesa, Farmer’s Table has debuted in Bay Park, serving breakfast, brunch, and dinner with ingredients sourced from local purveyors like South Bay Fishery.
