Bankers Hill Happy Hours

The Scene: Go on the earlier side, as you can’t get the happy hour discount if you don’t snag a seat at the patio or bar, Monday to Friday 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. It’s mostly an after-work and date crowd. Drink: The iconic 12th floor (seems higher than that, eh?) resto remains down-to-earth by offering $3 Amstel Lights alongside a gajillion-dollar view. We suggest a local brew ($4), skinny or specialty cocktail ($10), well drink ($5), or wine ($6). Nibble: We hope you like fried! The frito misto basket (fried veggies) always makes us feel less guilty about thrashing the truffled fries, fried calamari, and swordfish steak sliders.

The Scene: We spotted lots of couples, a table full of guys, and another full of girls out for happy hour in this colorful boîte. But no matter, people were here to eat rather than meet on Taco Tuesday. Drink: The generous Mexican mojito spiked with cilantro, jalapeño, basil, and white tequila (rather than rum) is refreshing and herbal. Daily happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. brings $4 beers while regular margaritas, sangria, and select wines are $5. Nibble: Cucumbers in a tangy cumin-cilantro vinaigrette are addictive and healthy; more indulgent is the pequeño bowl with frijoles, carnitas, cheese, and salsa for $5, while tacos are $3 to $4 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; check for daily specials.

The Scene: It’s a mellow mix of girlfriends hanging out, smitten young couples on dates, and Bankers Hill locals. Drink: The Whiskey Rose is a floral bourbon cocktail brightened by fresh raspberries and blackberries. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily, select wines and specialty cocktails are $2 off; while some beers and well drinks are just $3 each. Nibble: Chef Colin MacLaggan’s modernist take on pulled pork sliders served on a biscuit—they come with honey spheres on the side. All apps are $2 off from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
